Be A Part of What God Is Doing
Right now, God is shaping future pastors, deacons, and church leaders. Learning to serve His Church with humble hearts and steadfast faith. Each day at Concordia Lutheran Seminary, they are being formed through God’s Word to lead, teach, and care for His people. Your prayers, encouragement, and gifts become part of their journey to ministry. Through your support, you walk alongside them as they prepare to bring the hope of Christ to congregations across Lutheran Church–Canada. At Concordia Lutheran Seminary, forming servants for Jesus’ sake isn’t just our motto - it’s our mission. The student you help now may be the pastor or deacon who ministers to you, your children, or your church family in the future. We invite you to join us in that mission. Remembrance
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”Matthew 6: 20-21 ESV.
With that in mind I encourage you to review all that God has given you: family, assets and investments. Pray about what Legacy you believe God would have you leave. Your Legacy will reflect your lifetime of faith and service which will live on after you have entered your heavenly home. It can also be stated in your last will and testament when you distribute your earthly treasures. We would be glad to speak to you or meet with you to discuss your Legacy desires; to offer some suggestions how to be a good steward of God’s gifts during your lifetime and in your estate. Planning is important to make sure your wishes are fulfilled efficiently.
Some things you may want to consider:
1. Giving appreciated investments has tax advantages. If you transfer stocks, mutual funds etc. directly to a registered charity you are not required to include the capital gain for income tax. You will receive a charitable tax receipt for the full amount of the gift.
2. You can name a charity as a beneficiary of your RRSP or RRIF on your death. The result will be a charitable gift tax credit which will help offset the tax owed by your estate on the balance of your registered pension plan.
3. Bequests made to a registered charity in your estate can help offset taxes owed in your estate.
Professional legal and accounting advice is recommended.
