Concordia Lutheran Seminary

Development & Alumni

The great work of the Concordia Lutheran Seminary is possible because of the people and other resources gathered together at Ada Boulevard in Edmonton. The Seminary exists to bring students into servant leadership.

Your Seminary forges pastors, well-schooled in ministry, well-grounded in the faith. The Seminary is essential for the church to have pastors! Think of CLS as the provider... think of the pastor as the end result of the seminary experience... and think of the parishioners as being the beneficiaries of the Seminary’s ministry.

This graduate-level education carries no small price tag: tuition alone for the four years (including vicarage) costs $24,000; plus “incidental fees,” which are not so insubstantial; plus the cost of books, and lots of them; plus room and board off campus. Stats Canada calculated the average COL in Edmonton is over $75,000 per year.

In 2008-09, your Seminary’s operating budget calls for $1,000,000 of income: only about 22 % of this will come from LCC, and that’s all the church can afford; the budget calls for another 12% from a miscellany of secondary sources, such as tuition fees, bookstore sales, and interest earned on endowment funds. LCC has mandated CLS to raise all the rest – more than $706,000, over 55% of the needed revenue – as gift income from individual supporters.

Your support, through financial donations, through volunteer contributions of your special talents, are essential to the Seminary's continued work. Please consider contributing to the Seminary's work.
